Skirt Style in Venice with ICI MAINTENANT

Blogging has brought me all over the world this year, but short trips down to southern California are always my favorite. Despite the fact that I almost ALWAYS barely miss my flight to LA the short hour long flight brings me to the sunshine, great friends, and family.

There are also some AMAZING backdrops in SoCal, especially in Venice. SO I took to the streets of Venice for a little street style shoot with my girl Krista of The Hundred Blog‘s photographer. For this look, I wanted to highlight spring style and partnered with ICI MAINTENANT to highlight their stunning collections of skirts.

ICI MAINTENANT is a new label founded by textile specialist Tamara Stadler. They design + sells embroidered skirts that are manufactured in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Every piece in the collection is 100% made in Switzerland. With the majority of the production process completed by hand. The clean, modern lines highlight the unique embroidery tradition of the region. The designs are universal and can be worn with your favorite flats (insert these flats Sam Edelman flats that I can’t stop wearing) as well as with pumps.

In response to the speed of fast fashion, ICI MAINTENANT offers its skirts “instantly”. Their close partnership with the embroiderers and the proximity to the manufacturer allow ICI MAINTENANT to quickly turn their designs into reality. Customers can decide on a color and a style in the moment, without having to wait for the next season. I know that I am a MAJOR fan of this kind of bespoke manufacturing, especially with a skirt. Fit is everything, especially when you are working with certain fabrics!

The skirts are also SO durable + feature high-quality workmanship. The sequins are a particular highlight: this embroidery technique was invented and patented in St. Gallen (stay tuned for that look next). ICI MAINTENANT uses this special technique to create skirts that are both eye-catching and suitable for everyday wear.

Late last night when I was editing these photos I thought to myself…

Am I doing too much here?

Does a very LOUD 30-year-old lady need to be wearing a massive Pharell hat, a lace-up dress WITH bell sleeves AND OTK boots?

This outfit is a one man trend report for 2016. But, lucky for me a lot of these trends can easily carry over to 2017 – just not ALL AT ONCE.

I think we are going to see less of the lace-up details in 2017, but the statement sleeves are here to stay and I’m good with that. I can’t get enough of the bell sleeve trend – it just can make eating very tricky!

OTK boots are here to stay. I don’t care what anyone says. I LOVE these boots (and they are now on MEGA sale). The stacked heel and rich redwood color make these a timeless piece in my closet and I will be rocking these bad boys into 2017.

But this post has forced me to ask myself:

Am I still cool?

Can I still pull off all of these trends?

…or maybe just not ALL at once.

A Monochromatic Look With A Side of Shapewear

Is wearing the same color from head-to-toe easy?

Nope.

Does it look good?

Yes.

Does it require shapewear?

Sometimes.

In my case YES.

Friday Forecast: I’m Seeing Stars

Today is all about stars. I love that even a lot of the most luxurious designers (I’m looking at you, Gucci + Saint Laurent), are playing around with fun patches and basic shapes like stars and hearts and all kinds of embroidery. When I first saw other people wearing stars, I honestly didn’t see myself joining in… But the trend has grown on me a lot. Check out my first star post here.

Retailers across the board are stocking star prints and star-adorned items in variations unthinkable. Whether you choose to wear your galaxy of stars out and about or want to simply pin them away on your favorite Pinterest boards, I can guarantee the outcome will be a magical one.

Why does a leather jacket instantly make everything look cool?

Even if in this case the leather jacket is just a ‘leather look’ aka FAUX leather jacket. Who knew that you could look this cool for under $100? Thanks, ASOS!

For this look, I wore the dress with the belt around the smallest part of my waist instead of tied around my neck in part one. Cinching my waist always accentuates my curves and leaves me feeling fab. Paired with the faux leather jacket from ASOS, velvet booties and a vintage Chanel bag this look exudes the ultimate ladies who lunch (downtown edition) look.
