The Gladiator

KatWalkSF Gladiator SandalsThe weather in San Francisco calls for layers pretty much all day, everyday. Yesterday I had a day filled with meetings on the bay and after eh, how many years in San Francisco I knew that the weather could be warm + sunny, foggy, freezing or a combination of everything. Just as I expected it was a combination of everything!

1969 Denim Shirt Jacket

1969 Denim Shirt Jacket

Zara Leather Roman SandalsRegardless of the weather I was hell bent on wearing my new gladiator sandals.

I never try to let the trends control my style, but the lace-up gladiator trend for Spring is my JAM. I spent weeks searching the internet for the perfect pair (with the perfect price). While every fashionista is DYING for the Chloé lace-up, the majority us can not handle the nearly $1,400 price tag that comes with them! I decided to go for the Zara option this season + may even go after this affordable option from Bar III too!

I am so obsessed with this trend that I decided to throw together a few of my favorites below :

What do you think of this Spring trend? Will you be wearing lace-up gladiator sandals this season?KatWalkSF Gladiator Sandals

Shake It Off

KatWalkSF FringeThere isn’t anything wrong with your screen, I’m really that tan! Les Méchantes has set up shop at Beauty Company + after a week in a salon I am now the most well groomed person in San Francisco. I love a good spray tan and for $35 you can get what I like to think is the BEST spray tan in San Francisco at Beauty Company.

Now, I snagged this skirt in the sale section at H&M + could not be more in love with it. The fringe just makes me want to whirl + twirl and shake it all off. While my skirt is no longer available, I am equally in love with this option from Forever 21 + it is a major steal at just $24!

This look is from a shoot I did with Brittany of Work It, Berk (check out her post here ). Speaking of this look, this dress moo moo is about to be in heavy rotation. I just snagged it from up and coming designer, Carolina K and I could not be more obsessed. This is the ultimate lazy girl piece. I mean you can belt it for a more fitted body conscious look and then unbelt it post brunch #genius and no one will ever know that you ate everything in site!

The NYC Freeze

union_5

I am back in San Francisco + think I have just about defrosted from my trip to New York!

The weather in San Francisco has been quite nice since I returned, but even looking at these pictures makes me cold! This look is from my first day in NYC…before I learned that wearing ALL of my clothes at once was always a good idea. Thank god my coat was pretty warm because just a coat + a dress was not enough to battle the NYC weather!

IMG_1249I am not quite sure where this is, but I do know the water is frozen + I nearly died when I took off my gloves to take this picture.

IMG_7450I stumbled upon this MAJOR MOMENT while waiting for my UBER in a Banana Republic. I love everything about this shot, especially the chair!union_4

union_2My bag is literally bursting at the seams! A big ass crossbody bag is the way to go when running around the city like a maniac + need all of your worldly possessions with you at all times.

Don’t think I have ever seen a sign like this in California!

The NYC Chill

KatWalkSF NYCHey Guys! Just so you know, it is really VERY cold in New York right now!

and this California girl did not do well with the chilly weather!

Everyday of my trip a complete stranger told me that I looked cold + my cab driver even told me that he didn’t want to take me to the Chelsea piers and insisted that I go to the ‘Russian Saunas’ or back to California!

KatWalkSF NYC

KatWalkSF NYCIt took me nearly the entire trip to learn that 1 coat was OK, but 2 coats were better (my other coat was on a nearby bench) and that tights under jeans were OK and that tights + leggings under jeans are even better!

KatWalkSF NYCI snagged these shoes on my first night while wondering aimlessly (and VERY coldly) down 5th Avenue + ended up wearing them for the rest of the trip! They are the perfect bootie! The hidden wedge gives them just the right amount of height + the cheetah print is so unique!

However…I learned the hard way that slipping on ice is easy + to pray that the sidewalks had been salted!

Despite the cold weather (and some of my slip ups) I had an amazing time in New York and fulfilled my childhood dream of standing outside in the Today Show crowd and even saw my creepy man crush Matt Lauer!

I can’t wait until my next trip to NYC and to apply all of my new layering tricks into my styling!
