Put A Turtleneck Under Everything

& Other Stories - A-Line Cotton Dress

Turtlenecks are a winter staple that no one should bear the season without, and I am going to prove to you exactly why. Since looking stylish while managing the cold temperatures is rather challenging (so many layers!), I’ve found that turtlenecks of all shapes and sizes can be our best friend.

For this look, I took one of my favorite (super slim) turtlenecks from Amour Vert + layered it under this & Other Stories a-line dress. Since this knit turtleneck is fine enough, the warm-weather top makes an absolute perfect layering piece to add warmth to a once summery look.

LUV.IT – The Latest Shopping App + A Few Of My Favorite Things

Genuine People - Long Bomber

I recently discovered a new fashion app Luv.It AND it has been fulfilling all of my late night iPhone shopping needs. Luv.it is an app that allows you to search for products, create a style network, shop + discover trending brands, AND collect cash back on every purchase. It’s really quite satisfying to browse all of the items they have on the app…late night…when I should be sleeping! A ton of the of the designers on the app are emerging + delivering some kickass products.

LuvIt has nearly 70 brands available in the app and is adding more every week. Some of my favorites are Marrin Costello (duh), Genuine People and Eleven Paris. One of the best parts about the app is that it is so easy to use, clear + beautiful. The check out is so easy too– you literally just slide a button (like the motion you do to power off an iPhone) and then you’re all set! Shipping varies depending on the designer, but the entire process is oh-so-easy and satisfying.

Genuine People - Long Bomber

Now let’s take a minute to talk about what I scored on Luv.It: This AMAZING long bomber jacket from Genuine People. The crew over at Genuine People captures emerging trends, fuse them with urban edge + attitude, and present them in meticulously curated collections. Light, clean lines cut with sharp sophistication. Bold, edgy flair tempered by the understated feminine AND I am obsessed AND grateful for the Luv.It app for introducing me to this KILLER brand.

I paired the long bomber jacket with the go-to Athleta tights (see my entire post dedicated to my love to them here) and my Superga sneakers from our local Superga SF store AND voila! You’ve got yourself a few of my favorite things and a super chic (yet comfy) outfit.

Friday Forecast: The Solo Earring

There’s something incredibly chic about wearing only one earring. Even though it may look like you’ve lost an earring, wearing a single ear is almost always a chic decision (when styled the right way).

I’ve recently re-discovered Pinterest + forgot what an incredible resource it was. It is a little dangerous for my credit card, but I have found myself inspired + excited about fashion in a new + exciting way – insert the solo earring trend + all these killer images that I found on the internet.

Here’s the thing about this trend: it doesn’t really work with small, dainty earrings. The appeal is in its over the top size and style. Overly embellishing one ear, whether it’s with a fancy ear cuff, a trendy ear jacket or a shoulder-grazing statement earring, requires guts. It attracts attention to the fact that you are bold enough to go against the grain and rock one earring like the rebel that you are!

Friday Forecast: Kayu Handbags

Kayu - Design - Handbags

Do I normally discover new brands on Burlingame Avenue?

Nope!

So I was VERY surprised to discover KAYU on ‘The Ave’ in my hometown of Burlingame, CA. The Ave is filled with ALL the generic shopping. Insert a J.Crew, Apple and Banana Republic AND you’ve got yourself Burlingame Avenue. Nothing new or exciting there – Sorry Burlingame.

Discovering a brand that is based in Burlingame, but sold on Shopbop, Bloomingdale’s and Moda Operandi NEVER HAPPENS!

Kayu - Design - Handbags

SO, I was nearly shocked when I stumbled upon the KAYU boutique next to the new Lemonade restaurant on the Ave.  KAYU began in 2008 during a trip to Malaysia by the founder, Jamie Lynn. While searching for gifts to bring back to friends in the US, Jamie realized that all the beautiful handicrafts that she grew up with as a child had disappeared and were replaced with cheap, synthetic alternatives. She started working with artisans in South East Asia on a line of accessories that were made using traditional techniques but infused with a modern Californian sensibility. After an overwhelming response from the media and stores she quit her corporate job and dedicated herself full time to making handcrafted accessories. She called the company KAYU which means “wood” in Malay; an ode to her cultural heritage.

Capped off by a rough-cut stone closure, the woven raffia KAYU clutch above adds an earthy glamour to resort wear and it is also a reflection of their commitment to using natural materials like straw, wood and shell. I snagged this clutch right before Christmas and have not stopped wearing it. It adds just the right amount of sparkle to a holiday look and can easily be dressed down for a casual day look – love it with this mega sale dress from IRO.

Stop by the Kayu shop on the Ave. next time you are in Burlingame

My Winter Body Style: The Extreme Oversized Hoodie

ASOS, Story of Lola - Extreme Oversized Hoodie

Did I just eat leftover risotto for breakfast?

Yep.

Did I see yes to every glass of champagne + passed appetizer this holiday season?

Yep.

Have I worn these Athleta leggings ALMOST every other day of December?

HELL YEAH.

So, let me introduce you to my ‘winter body’ style. It involves boxy, oversized knits (aka this EXTREME oversized hoodie) leggings and MAYBE some kind of a fun statement shoe. I have been rocking this look over the past couple of weeks and frankly, I’m into it.

But…I know that I need to tighten it up soon – because my jeans don’t fit! Back to the gym January 7th people! I need for you to hold me to it!
