My (failed) Attempt at Traveling in Style

No matter how much time I put into planning and packing for a trip, I am always a mess. I always over pack and revert to the “I’ll just wear everything that doesn’t fit method.” This method always leads to me overheating on the plane and stripping the layers away as soon as I reach my seat. Today was no exception. I arrived to my parents house with my two bags plus an extra bag filled with things I “might” need. Instead of just saying goodbye to a couple items for the weekend, I made room for my Frye boots and added on two more layers for the flight.IMG_0004Hat: Gap (old)

To aid in my constant packing issues, I recently purchased this vintage Louis Vuitton backpack from Poshmark. It is the perfect size for my laptop and planner, but due to my horrible packing skills it is also filled with cosmetics, chargers and god knows what. I am hoping that this will be a perfect travel backpack for the trip and help me to see New Orleans without having to hold my usual over sized handbag (and leave my hands free for cocktails).

Me and My Bangs

I am (clearly) constantly looking for style inspiration and today I woke up ready for a hair change. I am currently rocking a very blonde look with very thick bangs. I am enjoying my bangs, but boy are they high maintenance! I have found myself struggling to see the computer at work and even parting them down the middle and to the side so I can drive! Bangs are a big commitment and in need of constant upkeep! My bangs got so long that one day at work our denim stylist cut them in the office so that I could gain my vision back!

I found this image and a ton of hair style inspiration while searching the internet and compulsively pinning on Pinterest. This photo came from Rush Putney, a UK based hair and beauty website and salon.

Black_Soft_BlowdryI am obsessed with this style. I don’t think I could ever go dark again, but I love these natural curls and waves.

When British Style Crosses the Pond

NORDSTROM-TOPSHOP

 I have always been a huge fan of Topshop and even made my way to Las Vegas the weekend of the grand opening of the store in the Fashion Show Mall. So, when I found out that Topshop was going to be sold at select Nordstrom stores I nearly lost it. I am lucky enough to work right across the street from the Nordstrom in Union Square (amongst other amazing stores) so my lunch break looks like this: 10 minutes eating and 50 minutes shopping. My only complaint is that the TopShop collection is housed in the B.P. department (tween central) and the fitting rooms literally give me anxiety.

IMG_5180I scored these amazing Topshop black and white “Melanie”  flats on my lunch break last week. I am obsessed with the slim strips of mirrored metal on the top, making a simple pointy-toe flat so edgy! They have been a huge hit and are oh so comfy!

treat-to-self-2Just about three years ago I was hit by a car while crossing the street here in San Francisco. I flew over the car and into the luxurious General Hospital.

This unfortunate accident kept me out of work for almost a year, leaving me way too much free time to terrorize my friends and family…while hitting up every happy hour in North Beach.

About two weeks ago my never ending lawsuit settled and in came my check! So now it is time for me to pay my bills, pay back my mom and TREAT MYSELF!

So now I have to decide…What to buy? Where to go? What to see?
