Class of ’04

IMG_7049

This weekend was my 10 year high school reunion and while I opted not to attend, these pictures are giving off some major teenage angst. I am pretty sure it is my blue hair, sassy facial expression + my outfit! Who knew that at 28 I could still channel the ‘I hate my parents’ look so effortlessly?

While the rest of Burlingame High School class of 2004 was reuniting in Burlingame, I was in wine country. Team Les Méchantes packed up the suburban + headed north for a home decor photo shoot.

Check out a sneak peek below.

IMG_7075While home decor shoots are normally DLo‘s specialty, I had a blast staging our home product + getting behind the camera for a change.

IMG_7032Now every angry teenager adult needs a signature cocktail. In high school it was Smirnoff Ice + today it is a little Moonshine. This shit is strong, yet easy to drink like a little Smirnoff Ice in your parent’s backyard after a football game.

Fall Forward

IMG_6685

IMG_6684I’ve decided to really mix things up this fall + instead of falling back, I’m falling forward.

IMG_0890My hair is blue (please excuse the Nesquik bunny), I have a new job passion project + I have almost completely revamped my wardrobe (thanks to Poshmark).

Last week I walked into my hair salon for a root touchup + walked out with a royal blue weave. At the time I thought this was a genius idea, but shortly after I learned that this was a major CHANGE + that everything from my makeup to my eyebrows needed an update. Thanks to YouTube, Evora + a couple of pep talks from Caity I think I have got this blue weave under control.

Now let’s talk denim. Since 1969 2002 I wore nothing but Gap jeans. Levi’s was a curse word + Always Skinny jeans were essentially my uniform. As a Gap employee I knew that Gap denim needed 30-45 minutes on to stretch + fit. This meant that I had to lay down onto my bed to zip them up + then walk around my apartment while doing lunges to achieve the perfect the fit. So…when East & Lo asked for me to try their new denim collection with Flying Monkey I was game. One of my favorite benefits of the Flying Money denim is the fact that you don’t have to spend years breaking them in. They slipped right on, no lunges needed. Their description was spot on + the skinny leg opening tucked perfectly into my boots.

Made in California

Rust Eagle Dress by Les Mechantes

First things first, if you follow me on instagram then you know that these pictures are old + I am sporting a new royal blue weave…but we will discuss that tomorrow.

These pictures are from a recent trip to Los Angeles with my family. When I was editing these pictures I started to think about just where this outfit came from + nearly everything I am wearing was made in my home state, California. While styling an outfit with local fashion will cost you more, the positive benefits are endless.

I was born in Santa Barbara and after several moves up + down the cost I have settled in San Francisco. While my love for all things SF Made (insert shameless plug for Les Méchantes) is strong, I am pleased to report that apparel is being manufactured all over the United States, not just in California and these days we can all shop local in some capacity.

Fake, Faux or Cruelty Free

IMG_6236

I have always been a fan of fake fur + as an avid shopper I am far too familiar with the fake fur terminology the fashion community has coined. From faux fur to vegan fur to cruelty free fur retailers have managed to come up with hundreds of ways to describe one of falls hottest trends. A fake fur piece is not only stylish, but also ethical and cruelty-free

Now I’m a sucker for a statement lining + my fake fur coat does not disappoint. The striped lining is almost like an accessory + the perfect pop to finish off my street style look.

Check out some of my favorite shots below from the a Les Méchantes shoot, featuring this faux fur coat, The Nora.
