Why does a leather jacket instantly make everything look cool?

Even if in this case the leather jacket is just a ‘leather look’ aka FAUX leather jacket. Who knew that you could look this cool for under $100? Thanks, ASOS!

Now, this dress may look familiar as this is the second time I’ve styled it in two weeks.

For this look, I wore the dress with the belt around the smallest part of my waist instead of tied around my neck in part one. Cinching my waist always accentuates my curves and leaves me feeling fab. Paired with the faux leather jacket from ASOS, velvet booties and a vintage Chanel bag this look exudes the ultimate ladies who lunch (downtown edition) look.

Hana Tajima x Uniqlo: The Flared Dress Two Ways // Part One

I love a caftan for so many reasons. The number one being that it perfectly conceals my ‘winter body’ without making me look like I threw on a mumu. The flared full-length design of this dress makes for the perfect light, feminine frock. Throw in a bell sleeve for a subtle feminine touch, an under $40 price tag and I was sold.

I am always attracted to mindless fashion. No fancy underwear (insert the oh-so-awful spanx biker shorts moment…you know what I’m talking about) and a regular everyday normal bra make the recipe for the perfect dress. I love this dress so much that this is actually part 1 of 2 ways I styled it. For this look, I took the belt off and tied it around my neck as a ‘Pussy Bow.’ Paired with a simple mule and cat eye sunglasses this look was easy + effortless. I could go anywhere from a lunch with the girls to a work meeting to happy hour.

This dress is also a part of Uniqlo’s popular series from Muslim fashion designer Hana Tajima. In 2015, the Japanese retailer Uniqlo decided to team with British-Japanese Muslim fashion designer Hana Tajima on a collection of essential items inspired by Tajima’s personal style. The line debuted in Southeast Asia and was filled with Tajima’s streamlined dresses, breezy culottes, and light tunics. Now the collection is in the US and I could not be a bigger fan. New York fashion week can be quite the intimidating experience, so seeing some familiar faces in a not so familiar place was just was I needed.

So I took a break between shows and dancing on rooftop bars (whoops!) to brunch with some of my favorite ladies in New York’s west village. Twiirly (the amazing new app that I have been working on) and San Francisco brand, Amour Vert hosted one of the most beautiful brunches that I have ever attended.

I had to be up very early the morning of the brunch so this look had to be quick and comfortable, yet NYFW appropriate. An Amour Vert skirt was a MUST mixed with this Page Thirty leather jacket.

Why does a leather jacket always make me feel cool?

And this leather jacket from Page Thirty REALLY made me feel cool. Page Thirty was started in 2015 to create contemporary style leather apparel using premium materials, all manufactured in sunny California. They design stylish leather apparel without sacrificing a sophisticated silhouette. They are inspired by timeless chic looks with a minimalist edge. The Harper Bolero that I am sporting was the perfect piece to pair with my Amour Vert skirt. Although let’s be real here it was not the only piece of outerwear I was wearing in New York in February.

Ruti at The Roxy: Another Look From #NYFW

I spent a night (or two) at The Roxybury  during New York Fashion Week… see what I did there. The Roxy Hotel could not have been a better hotel for Fashion Week. The Roxy was once The Tribeca Grand and the first major hotel in the area, according to a guy I met playing the FB88. It has been home to celebrities and a dynamic mix of restaurants, shops, financial institutions, bitcoin casinon i Sverige and thriving independent film companies. The lobby and public areas are fabulous…but the late night jazz is NOT for anyone who wants to catch some early shut-eye…which is not necessarily me, but a good fact to know if you are planning to book a stay at the hotel.

The Roxy is located in a perfect location on a prime cobblestone corner on the border of SoHo and TriBeCa. It was a short walk to shopping and cafes (when it wasn’t snowing) and a quick uber to the shows and presentations.

Now let’s take a minute to talk about this Ruti dress. Fresh from her Spring collection, The Painted Ramona Dress is everything I needed for a crazy day running around Manhattan in the winter. This sleek collared blouse dress is exactly what I wanted to throw on halfway through the trip. The eye-catching paint print made just the statement that I needed for Fashion Week, but the simple and flattering silhouette left me comfortable for a very long day. I paired it with my go-to Stella McCartney boots and my chunky Kenzo x H&M jackets and called it a day! My boots suffered a bit of damage due to the snow and salt on the ground. Quickly forcing me to learn to always wipe off my boots when I got in to prevent the salt from destroying them!
