Thank you to Famous Footwear for kindly sponsoring this post and the Hotel G in San Francisco.

Writing a travel blog post from 35,000 feet up in the air seems fitting, right? 2017 has brought a significant amount of travel to me and with that, I have really learned the ins and out of travel style. Now, I am well aware that I will NEVER look like Victoria Beckham when I exit the aircraft, but that doesn’t mean that I need to look like a bum when traveling.

Travel style is tricky, but I think we can all agree that comfort is key when you are hitting the road. For me, this starts with my footwear. If my feet hurt you can see it on my face and my body language. With that in mind let’s take a minute to chat about the perfect travel booties, the Kipling Peep Toe Bootie by Circus from Sam Edelman. Aside from their $39.99 price tag, these booties are a travelers dream.

Let me give you a couple of reasons why:

  • The 3 and 1/4 inch stacked heel gives you just the right amount of height without killing your feet. The stacked heel is key for comfort. You will never find me in a stiletto at the airport!
  • Booties with a cooling effect? Yes, that does exist. The perforated upper on these booties provides for a nice cooling effect. Nobody likes sweaty feet!
  • Stability. Traction on the outsoles of these booties provides stability. There is nothing chic about running to the gate and slipping because of your booties!
  • An adjustable buckle slingback strap. We all have different sized feet and we know that, so an adjustable strap is necessary if we are going to be strutting our stuff in style at the airport.

Another Day, Another Kimono. How to style a summer dress into fall with a kimono.

Fall is finally here – according to the calendar (not the weatherman). Either way, we can’t go bopping around town in our summer staples anymore! It is time to introduce fall fashion into our wardrobes

Now, let’s take a minute and talk about the benefits of styling a kimono. If you follow me over on Instagram you are more than well aware of the fact that I wore my favorite kimono regularly during my trip to New York for fashion week. I wore that kimono so much that it actually became a running joke between me, my friends and my Instagram family (check out my post on it here).

Well during that trip I found that the kimono was the perfect transition piece for taking my summer dresses into fall. For example, take the camo-print slip dress in today’s post. The perfect dress for summer, but a little on the skimpy side for fall. Throw on a kimono and you are good to go!

What do you think of the kimono trend? Will you be adopting it for fall?

The Power Suit at NYFW

Hell Ya!

The Fall 2016 runways kicked off the trend, offering up pantsuits featuring slim cuts, bold patterns, slouchy fits and peplum-accented blazers. Perfect for a night out and the boardroom – depending on you style it (I’m pretty sure my boob tee wouldn’t cut it in the boardroom). Spring 2017 picked up where Fall 2016 left off, providing working women everywhere options like velvet, oversized

Spring 2017 picked up where Fall 2016 left off, giving us more power suit options in velvet, oversized silhouettes, and creative layering tricks.

Cut to Fall 2017 and it was pretty hard to find a runway that didn’t feature some form of power suiting. We saw everything from boldly patterned pieces to more conventional incarnations with an exaggerated twist.

Now, let’s talk about my look from NYFW. This entire look was a steal and one of my favorite outfits from NYFW. You can snag this entire power suit look at your local mall without breaking the bank and are sure to turn heads!

The power suit is from Banana Republic (thanks, mom) and the t-shirt can be found at Topshop.
