When was the last time you shopped at Macy’s?

If you are anything like me it has been YEARS since you stepped foot in your local Macy’s store.

Why? I outgrew the brands they carried, everything was constantly on sale and a mess, the outdated floor plan with the awful inefficient incandescent lighting and t he overwhelming crowds in San Francisco’s Union Square scared me away in my mid-twenties.

Until now. Yep, over the past four weeks, I have placed at least one Macy’s order almost every week. Why? I always shop around for the best deals when I shop online and Macy’s has proven to have the best deals online for one very specific brand – Free People. That’s right ladies stock up on ALL your Free People needs at macys.com.

All three of the Free People pieces featured are over 30% off right now. There is almost ALWAYS a sale happening at Macy’s and ALMOST everything from the Free People collection is included. And these a good Free People pieces. Pieces that are full price at Nordstrom and Shopbop. These are pieces that have managed to become staples in my wardrobe over a short period of time.

Now before I sell you the online shopping dream at Macy’s I need to make one very important point clear. The online shopping experience is less than ideal. The site is outdated (like the stores) and your order arrives in a sloppy Macy’s plastic bag maybe with tissue- but what’s in the package is pure magic and all that really matters. So go for it, fulfill all your Free People shopping dreams at Macy’s.

Yes, this sale happens every year and in my opinion, the sale just keeps on getting better. The best way to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale San Francisco style:

  • Take advantage of the buy now and pick up in store feature. It is a major lifesaver and honestly the only way I ever shop at Nordstrom. Find it, Love it, Get it – FAST!
  • Stock up on what we really need in San Francisco. The Anniversary sale is the best time of the year to stock up on cardigan sweaters, jeans, basic layering tanks, tees, and boots – AKA the basic San Francisco wardrobe.
  • Shopping for you man? If he lives in the Marina – hook him up with all The North Face and Patagonia!
  • Looking to drive and park? Stonestown is your only option in the city. Looking to really go for a drive? My two favorite spots to shop outside of the city are Corte Madera and Palo Alto.

A weekend getaway to Sonoma during the summer is easily one of my favorite activities – especially when it involves attending an event at a winery with a pool! The Francis Ford Coppola Winery is located in Geyserville, Ca (about ten minutes from downtown Healdsburg) and an absolute must if you are heading to Sonoma during the summer.

This past Friday I attended a pool party at Coppola Winery to celebrate the launch of #Collection by Gia Coppola. The nighttime soiree featured a silent disco with tunes by Myles Hendrik, carnival food and 80s arcade games. The #Collection by Gia Coppola was inspired Gia and her creative personality. This new style of wine—one that’s light, unpretentious, and made for the hashtag generation was flowing all night long (I am fairly certain I had ALL the rosé).

This look is from our drive up from San Francisco to Sonoma. I kept it comfy for the drive (just about two hours), yet chic with the addition of the hat and basket bag. I just snagged these jeans from Express and I could not be more pleased with the fit. I have been looking for comfortable, mid-rise white jeans for months and little did I know the brand that I hadn’t shopped at since high school would be the source of my new favorite jeans!
