Pattern Play: Leopard + Spots For Fall

Leopard + Spots: not necessarily your first thoughts when thinking fall fashion…

But this fun pattern play works…right?

The leopard comes courtesy of the J.Crew original No. 2 pencil skirt. This classic silhouette is back, with a waistband that sits lower on your waist and a flattering fall appropriate knee length. Leopard print is having a serious moment for fall and this simple pencil skirt is a worthy investment. Not ready to splurge? J. Crew Factory has a very similar skirt for a quarter of the price here.

Now the spots come from an ASOS coat from last winter that is still in stock! This coat was a hit last fashion week. This lightweight coat is perfect for chilly fall mornings and has easily worked its way into my wardrobe year-round – thanks to San Francisco’s year-round fall like weather.

What do you think of this pattern play? Was it a hit or a miss?

Let me know in the comments.

Easy Travel Looks For The Girl On The Go

Are you the last person on the airplane always looking like the hot mess express?

That was literally ALWAYS me. Sliding into the gate like it was home plate, spilling my coffee everywhere and looking like I just rolled out of bed. Well, my friends, at the ripe old age of 32 I have (almost) figured it all out. Gone are the days of glamourous travel, but with just a little bit of effort and punctuality you can look fab and arrive at your destination in comfort and style.

So I present to you three of my favorite easy travel looks:

Easy Travel Looks, KatWalkSF, Kat Ensign, White Luggage, Comfy Pants, Dad Sneakers, Goyard, Goyard Duffle, Girlfriend Collective, Sunglasses, Kat Ensign, Kathleen Ensign, Travel Blogger, Travel With Me, Girls Who Travel

Look #1 – I got a blowout and I’m not afraid to show it off.

Starting your travels with a fresh blowout is rule number of looking like a travel pro even though you just want to be comfortable and have no idea what you are doing. I almost always do my best to schedule a blowout the day of or night before I travel. Good hair goes a long way and there is nothing worse than landing at your destination knowing that you have to unpack all your hair care products and wash your hair.

Top: RE/DONE (c/o), Cropped Boxy T-shirt

Leggings: Girlfriend Collective (c/o), Black Compressive High-Rise Legging

Shoes: Public Desire (c/o), Cheetah Chunky Trainers

Sunglasses: Le Specs, The Prince Sunglasses

Bags: Goyard + Gabbinao (c/o), Avila Collection 3-Piece Hardside Upright Spinner Set

American Eagle, AERIE, Gucci Sneakers, Sole Society, Sole Society Weekender, Kat Ensign, Kathleen Ensign, Traveler, Travel Blogger, Easy Travel Look, Real Travel Look

Look #2 – A matching sweatsuit goes a long way.

This sweatsuit is not pricey and instantly makes you look like you know what you are doing when it comes to travel. A matching set elevates your look (even if they are just oversized rust colored joggers) and matching luggage takes that look to the next level.

Sweatshirt: Aerie, Hometown Sweatshirt

Joggers: Aerie, Destroyed City Jogger

Sneakers: Gucci, Rhyton Leather Sneakers

Sunglasses: Ray-Ban, Large Original 62mm Aviator

Weekender: Sole Society (c/o), Mason Weekend Bag

Luggage: Gabbiano (c/o), Avila Collection 3-Piece Hardside Upright Spinner Set

Easy Travel Looks, KatWalkSF, Kat Ensign, White Luggage, Comfy Pants, Dad Sneakers, Goyard, Goyard Duffle, Girlfriend Collective, Sunglasses, Kat Ensign, Kathleen Ensign, Travel Blogger, Travel With Me, Girls Who Travel

Look #3 – Head-to-Toe Black = Chic

When in doubt, keep it simple and chic in head-to-toe black. These are also great pieces to have in your travel wardrobe. I have been living in these black leggings from Girlfriend Collective. These extra high-rise leggings with four-way stretch are basically everything you need to get through your favorite high-impact activities, like running, yoga, binge-watching housewives and travel.

Sweatshirt: H&M, Relaxed-fit Sweatshirt

Leggings: Girlfriend Collective (c/o), Black Compressive High-Rise Legging

Shoes: Public Desire (c/o), Cheetah Chunky Trainers

It’s no secret that ASOS is one of my favorite online retailers for affordable trendy fashion – more on ASOS here + here.

So when ASOS has a sale I am always ready to stock up, especially at the end of the summer when we’re transitioning our wardrobes from summer to fall.

Now before you shop the ASOS Spend More Save More Sale there a couple of things you should know about ASOS:

  • PREMIER DELIVERY is a must. Sign up for Premier Delivery USA and get unlimited two-day shipping with no minimum order value for a whole year. Speedy, hassle-free shopping just got even better.
  • ASOS does not offer exchanges in the United States. So if you buy something at 20% off and you want to exchange it for another size you have to pay full price for the new size. This is SO annoying, so I always buy two sizes and return the size that doesn’t fit. ASOS makes returns very easy and they always include a free shipping label.
  • If you want it, buy it. Chances are things are going to sell out on ASOS, especially during a sale event. The sale goes until 9/14 and everything fabulous is guaranteed to sell out!

A San Francisco Urban Hike with Reebok

First things first what exactly is an urban hike?

Here in San Francisco, I normally define urban hiking as exploring the stairways, hills, and hiking trails of the city. However, Urban Dictionary defines an urban hike as extensive shopping in a city shopping district (aka urban hiking trail) where paths or sidewalks adjoining different stores are open-air rather than enclosed.

I am a huge fan of both definitions of urban hikes, but since I partnered with Reebok via DSW for this post let’s chat about the stairways, hills and hiking trails of San Francisco! We can talk about shopping tomorrow.

Where are my favorite urban hikes in San Francisco?

Full disclosure – I live in North Beach in San Francisco. I’ve lived here for almost ten years and prefer to stay as close to my hood as possible, so all of my urban hikes start in North Beach, involve exploring the trails on this side of town and involve me wearing my Reebok Classics with my small white dog Benji. Why Reebok Classics? They are fashionable and functional and perfect for an urban hike!

I live at the bottom of North Beach close to Pier 39 and Fishermans Wharf. There are a ton of tourists in this area so I only hit Pier 39 or Fishermans Wharf very early morning before the tourists hit the area and it is hard to move at a normal pace! So with that in mind here are my favorite urban hikes in San Francisco:

  • Pier 39 to Fort Mason (very early in the morning) – starting at Pier 39. I always like to head straight to the sea lions, they live on the dock to the left of the main Pier 39 entrance and are LITERALLY the best part of San Francisco. I spend some time quality time with the sea lions then head over to the Alcatraz viewing area and check on the rock. From there I head through the center of Pier 39 and over towards the wharf. The wharf in the morning is a magical place and I love getting a little behind the scenes action of what it takes to make all that clam chowder in a bread bowl happen. The wharf leads to Aquatic Park, Ghirardelli Square, and Fort Mason. I like to enter Fort Mason from the base of Aquatic Park and get my hills in for the day. I can spend some serious time in Fort Mason being one with the woods or I can head straight to Chrissy Field and get in some faux California beach vibes. When I’m ready to give up I head over to Chestnut Steet and grab a coffee or beer and uber my booty back to North Beach.
  • Washington Square Park to AT&T Park – starting in Washington Square Park. My love for Washington Square Park is real. In fact, if you don’t want to go on an urban hike you can just sit in the park and have a grand old time (this is the park where a homeless man gave me Benji). Anywho, if you want to an urban hike, do this: start in the park and head up Filbert Street to Coit Tower. This is uphill so be prepared. Your glutes are going to hurt! Hit Coit Tower and take in views of the city (if it isn’t too foggy) and keep an eye out for the coyotes. Yes, there are coyotes on Coit Tower – so keep your dog close! From Coit Tower head down the Lombard Street steps and down to the Embarcadero. From here you are done with hills and can cruise the Embarcadero for as long as you like. Hit Pier 23 for a beer, explore the Exploratorium, grab a bite at the Ferry Building and finish at AT&T Park. The back half of this urban hike is right along the water and usually fairly sunny for San Francisco standards. And if you make it all the way to AT&T Park you are pretty far from North Beach and it is time to call an uber to get home.

These are just two of my favorite urban hikes, but I plan on keeping this post updated and continuing to share my journey with Reebok and my city by the bay. So check back for a new San Francisco urban hike and shop Reebok at DSW here.
