When I’m not grubbing at Original Joe’s or Chubby Noodle, you can find me noshing at these joints in North Beach.
I live in North Beach, I eat in North Beach and I do my very best to never leave (in my opinion) the very BEST neighborhood in San Francisco.
Let’s kick off this North Beach mini tour with the BEST lasagna in San Francisco from Calzone’s. I’ve lived in the neighborhood for years and honestly thought of Calzone’s as a tourist trap until my foodie friend + killer chef, Telmo (from up and coming restaurant Uma Casa) took me to Calzone’s.
It is all about the fresh thin pasta sheets in this lasagna. They are light on the cheese and heavy on the slow-roasted pork and beef sugo.
Next up is Central Station Deli.
North Beach just got a brand new deli and it is conveniently located right next to Central (police) Station.
Their sandwiches are SO good they should be illegal…
Bad joke but the sandwiches are delicious and their menu seems to grow every day!
A cannoli in Washington Square Park is a MUST.
My favorite bakery in North Beach is Stella Pastry. Located right on Columbus Ave., this neighborhood sweet spot makes the BEST cannoli’s and is just a short walk to the park.
Breakfast potatoes on the rotating grill from Mo’s can cure (almost) every hangover.
Pro Tip: The seafood chowder is unexpectantly delicious. Give it a try, just when you are NOT hungover.
And every North Beach night has to end with a square slice of Golden Boy Pizza.
