A Peacoat for Fall – #ItsBanana

Banana Republic - Military Jacket - KatWalkSF

Growing up I wore a catholic school uniform every day. A plaid jumper followed by a plaid skirt that FINALLY led to a navy blue (made mini by me) skirt in middle school. Everything was blue and everything was basic. The only thing that separated my style from the girl sitting next to me were my shoes, my neon biker shorts (worn underneath my skirt) and my outerwear. Like clockwork, every Fall my mom took me to the Gap on Burlingame Avenue and got me a navy blue peacoat to wear over my uniform.

This peacoat was NOTHING like the one I am sporting today. First of all, it is not blue. I don’t think you will ever see me in anything navy blue again…ever! This cropped military-inspired peacoat is functional, for one thing (I’ll give you that, Mom – I’m not cold).

And, like menswear, it has a tough, androgynous appeal. This dark cypress peacoat is so versatile and rich – I’ve been throwing it on over everything without even checking in the mirror – check out how I styled it over a pink dress here.

And, can we talk about the epaulets? I want to throw these bad boys on everything. The brass epaulets, double-breasted buttons and striped lining give this jacket a luxe feel at a pretty affordable price point.

2 anklets at all times…

I blame my basic childhood on my need for all the bling!

San Francisco’s Seasonless Style

Ruti - Dress - Fillmore St - San Francisco

Oh, San Francisco! We froze all summer and now in mid-October, we have one of the warmest weekends of the year.

But don’t worry – the fog came back and we are back to business as usual.

This flowy floral dress is effortlessly Boho Chic. A day-to-night dress with subtle pleats and a stunning floral design. Paired here with driving loafers and for the chilly Outside Lands weekend here with jeans + booties – this dress can really go from day to festival to night.

Merci – Celebrating Four Years of KatWalkSF

Merci - Paris - KatWalkSF

Four years ago today I published my first blog post.

I purchased the domain katwalksf.com four days earlier on a whim in Paris after somehow sneaking into a few shows at Paris Fashion Week.

The photos were bad, the content was all over the place but hey, I stuck with it and four years later KatWalkSF is still going strong.

I’ve changed jobs,

I’ve dated different dudes,

I’ve gained weight and then lost weight,

My hair has been every color of the rainbow (yikes)

+

I’ve blogged about fashion, travel, my dog and now food.

Thank you to everyone who has supported KatWalkSF, taken my photo, attended events, not unfollowed me on Instagram and stuck with me.

Cheers to four more years!

Feelin’ Fur For Fall

ASOS - Dolly Coat in Floral with Faux Fur Collar

While it very well may be over 80 degrees in San Francisco, I am yearning for Fall and all the faux fur!

I know I’m not the only one out there who is looking forward to bundling up this season and ditching my also faux summer bod!

I snagged this jacket from ASOS a couple of weeks ago and it has literally been staring at me on a mannequin in my apartment begging to be worn (insert cold weather in San Francisco, please). The metallic jacquard print and faux fur collar make this a fall wardrobe essential in my closet!

Marrin Costello - Marnie Necklace

Betabrand - Dress Pant Yoga Pants

And in addition to these pants being VERY comfortable and possibly ok for yoga the team at Betabrand and nonprofit Techstars Foundation are launching YogAID, a month-long program to raise funds to help women build their businesses.

How’s it work?

Easy, for every sale of Betabrand’s hugely popular work pants – Dress Pant Yoga Pants – in September, they’ll donate proceeds to the Techstars Foundation to support killer female entrepreneurs.

Hell ya! Let’s support some future #GirlBoss’s

Friday Forecast: A Statement Sleeve

KatWalkSF - Bell Sleeve - Statement Sleeve

Unlike so many other trends that come into the spotlight via street style, the statement sleeve is comfortable and easy to wear (trust me – that is me rocking those sleeves).

Whether it is an exaggerated bell sleeve or a ruffled, tailored style with cut-outs—there are many ways to work this directional look that I can NOT stop shopping online. From this super simple version of the bell sleeve from the LOFT to this military jacket from Burberry the statement sleeve is trending everywhere from fast fashion to the major design houses.
