The Story, From My Perspective

Over the past few months, my name has been all over the press. Articles, social media posts, and endless comments dissecting every angle of a story that involves me, my platform, and the chef/owner of the Hamburger Project. It’s been overwhelming, to say the least. I want to take a moment to share my perspective, in my own words, on my own platform.

First and foremost, I want to acknowledge the extensive media coverage this situation has received. News outlets, bloggers, and social media users have analyzed, speculated, and formed their own narratives. I can’t control the headlines, but what I can do is speak directly to you, my audience, and share my experience honestly.

I want to express my sadness that the chef has lost his job as a result of this situation. No matter what happened, I never intended for anyone to lose their livelihood. The internet has a way of amplifying conflicts, and while accountability is important, I also believe in learning, growing, and finding ways to move forward.

Since this story broke, I’ve been on the receiving end of an overwhelming amount of hate. The messages, the comments, and the attacks on my character have been relentless. It’s difficult to put into words what it feels like to be vilified by thousands of strangers who don’t know me beyond a single incident. But through it all, I am choosing to keep my head up.

I am managing this situation by leaning on the people who truly know me—my friends, my family, and my community. I am taking care of my mental health, setting boundaries with social media, and reminding myself that I am more than a moment in the news cycle.

This experience has been painful, but I also believe that challenges teach us valuable lessons. I hope that in time, the internet can move towards a space of more understanding and less immediate judgment. Until then, I will continue to share my truth, create content that reflects who I am, and remain focused on what truly matters.

Thank you to those who have supported me, checked in on me, and reminded me that one controversy does not define a person. I appreciate you more than you know.
