Poolside at the Meritage Resort – My Escape to Napa Valley

KatWalkSF at the Meritage in a rainbow ASOS cardigan and Birkenstocks

UPDATE

I’ve stayed at the Meritage collection of properties in Napa about 25 times over the last few years. From Bottlerock here at the Meritage to Christmas across the street at the Vista Collina these properties have a lot to offer when you are staying in Napa.

The Meritage is a bit of an older property, but it has something to offer for everyone and is very family-friendly (kids pool with a splash pad, bowling alley -> lots of kids activities) and a very kid-friendly menu at all the restaurants.

The Vista Collina is the Meritage’s newer sister property right across the street. I stayed there with my family for Christmas and I would give it a hard 10/10. Everything is new and modern, the staff was AMAZING and you have a ton of wine tasting options right below your hotel room! Yep, you can walk out of the hotel and straight to some of the best tasting rooms in the Napa Valley. No need for an uber or DD -> you don’t need to stay at the Vista Collina to taste (we took advantage of the tasting rooms yesterday).

We all know that I come to Napa often, but there’s a reason that I always end up at this property and it’s the convenience!

Just about an hour away door to door from my house in San Francisco lies the Meritage Resort and Spa in the Napa Valley. Last week I packed bags for both me and Benji and hit the road to Napa with my girl Ashley from Two Peas in a Prada.

The Meritage invited us to spend some time at their stunning property to eat, drink, relax, and participate in their very first Wellness Wednesday.

What is Wellness Wednesday?

Each month, Spa Terra at the Meritage Resort will offer a calming 75-minute yoga flow class overlooking the resort’s beautiful vineyards followed by a surprisingly hardy Spa superfoods brunch curated by Chef Ryan Rupp. Once you are fully relaxed and satisfied from brunch there is an option to enhance your afternoon with spa treatments at Spa Terra, offered at a 15% discount (we obviously did), followed by wine tasting in our robes at the Trinitas Cellars tasting room and a little pool time.

Statement Style: The ASOS Flutter Sleeve Dress

San Francisco fashion blogger KatWalkSF styles an ASOS flutter sleeve dress in North Beach.

Update: The ASOS flutter sleeve dress just went on sale! Snag your size before it sells out again!

I love to make a statement, especially when it comes to my personal style.

You will rarely find me in a head-to-toe black look and I almost always find myself my favorite statement style pieces from ASOS – including this dress.

The ASOS Flutter Sleeve Dress from this post made its way into my shopping cart the moment it landed on the ASOS website (I check the New In tab every morning). It’s the perfect dress for any occasion, especially this time of the year. Think weddings, graduations or even a date night. The body is fully lined (very impressive) for the $119 price tag and the glittery polka dots make the dress easy to transition from day to night. This dress has been in my closet for less than 5 days and I have already worn it twice! Snag it here and take advantage of the “Time to Treat Yourself” sale at ASOS.

Beauty: Getting Summer Skin Ready with REN Clean Skincare

San Francisco Blogger KatWalkSF shares her love for Ren Clean Skincare

After thirty things change…

You can’t eat what you want. You learn to save your dollars and you commit to washing your face before you go to bed and a skincare routine.

I am 100% committed to my skincare routine right now and the only reason I am sticking to it is REN Clean Skincare. I am so committed to this goddamn skin care routine I have been checking my bag since New York fashion week in February AND I NEVER check my bag!!!

This skincare routine is serious and evolving as the season’s change and my skin changes. The one product from REN that I have consistently used over the seasons is the Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic. This is by far the best product I have ever used. This toner exfoliates and brightens my complexion (even after a long night of drinking) and evens out my skin tone for a naturally radiant glow – basically my skincare goals in one product.

I am SO obsessed with REN Clean Skincare right now that I wrote to them asking to do a giveaway for my followers. I rarely reach out to brands, in fact, my giveaway with Benji’s pet store was the first time I had ever reached out to a brand for a giveaway last week. Well, the team over at REN agreed to the giveaway and I could not be more excited to hook up one follower and a friend with a $200 prize package from REN Clean Skincare to kick off your summer skincare routine! Just head to my Instagram post herehere and enter!

The Benefits of an Off-The-Shoulder Dress and The Dangers of Online Shopping

San Francisco fashion blogger KatWalkSF shares the benefits of wearing an off-the-shoulder dress.

The benefits of an off-the-shoulder dress are endless, especially since I am still searching for my summer body (check out my post on the perfect cover-up here).

An off-the-shoulder dress can create a sexy, yet casual look no matter your frame. A broad-shouldered woman can wear this look by being strategic about her styling. You can rock an off-the-shoulder frock by being mindful of accessory choices, color options and more.

AND since this is a well-established trend you can also snag it at all price points. The dress in this post is from my go-to retailer ASOS and just $64!

The Benefits of an Off-The-Shoulder Dress

What’s not beneficial is this bag. We’ve all done it  – ordered something online, loved it online and when it was delivered it looked NOTHING like what you were expecting!

This bag is a PRIME example of an online shopping mistake. We’ve all seen the Cult Gaia bag with a cult following, well my friends this bag is not it.

According to the editors over at Net-a-porter: Cult Gaia’s ‘Big’ tote is this season’s take on the label’s instantly recognizable ‘Ark’ clutch. It’s crafted from natural bamboo in an oversized portfolio-inspired shape that folds completely flat, so you it will fit easily into your suitcase. The unlined interior has plenty of room for beach essentials like a towel, sunscreen, and magazines.

Wait just a minute Net-a-porter! Yes, this tote is large but you absolutely can not put one item inside of it. It is so thin and fragile yet so LARGE. I was afraid to even put it together without breaking it! This bag serves not one purpose! Adios large tote you were 100% an online shopping mistake.

Despite the bad bag in the second look with this off-the-shoulder dress I am still a fan of this dress and believe my benefits of a good off-the-shoulder dress this summer!

Do you believe in my benefits of an off-the-shoulder dress?
